James Heaslet
James Heaslet has served as Chief Appraiser for the VA Loan Guaranty Service since 2018, where he develops and oversees policies and regulations for the VA’s Construction and Valuation department. Prior to this role, he spent a decade as an independent fee appraiser on the VA panel.
A certified Level I and Level II Appraisal Investigator, James has served on his state’s Mortgage Fraud Task Force and served six years on the Arizona State Board of Appraisal, including service as Vice Chair.
James holds an MBA from the University of Arizona and retired from the United States Marine Corps after more than 20 years of distinguished service. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and a Combat Action Award earned during multiple engagements in Iraq with the First Marine Division.
He is deeply committed to serving Veterans, his community, and his country. James volunteers as a Blue and Gold Officer for the US Naval Academy, he has two children, one serving in the Marine Corps as an Artillery Officer and his daughter attends Arizona State University school of Engineering
