This month (July 2024), the Appraisal Institute highlighted Jeff Hogan, Valligent’s Chief Appraiser and Veros’ SVP of Valuations. The video showcases Jeff’s passion for enhancing the appraisal process by creating equality and diversity in the field.
Starting from his young days in south central Los Angeles, Jeff became interested in the real estate industry when his father was rejected from buying a home due to his race. This started Jeff’s unwavering dedication to improving the appraisal process by limiting bias and subjectivity in home valuation decisions. At Veros, Jeff focuses on analytics tools, alternative evaluation tools, and other methods of advancing the appraisal process. Jeff’s goal is to reconcile real estate systems to mitigate the large discrepancy in data and appraiser’s behaviors. He works to make sure these tools complement appraisers and ensure the home valuation process is based on facts.
Jeff’s significant contributions to Veros and Valligent are greatly appreciated. However, it is his work in the appraisal diversity initiative that truly sets him apart. His valiant goal is to train a diverse pool of people, ensuring the industry reflects our country and the communities they are a part of. This not only results in more accurate appraisals but also makes home value explanations easier. Jeff’s commitment to diversity is not just a professional pursuit, but a legacy he is creating.
